Lion Slots is an old school casino, and by old school read ‘dated’. It looks like its best years are behind it and that it was last a going concern at least five years ago. That said, it still functions and you can still play at it by downloading the site’s software to your PC to access the suite of casino games it offers. The site doesn’t even have a favicon – the small logo that appears in the top of your browser tab. This is a minor omission but it’s indicative of the age of the site and suggests that it hasn’t been updated in some time. Still, there’s a $15 no deposit bonus to be claimed and a 100% first deposit bonus, rising to 200% with your second deposit and 300% with your third.
There are supposedly new games added every month though this claim may or may not be true. There are also ‘fantastic promotions’ and ‘exciting bonus rounds’ to be savoured. The software is apparently safe and secure and you can allegedly play the latest casino games. These include progressive slots, video poker, blackjack, craps and roulette. While certainly not the coolest or most user-friendly site you’ll ever encounter, Lion Slots does the job, provided you’re content to play on your desktop PC or laptop.
Lion Slots is operated by SSC Entertainment NV, who hold a gaming licence issued by the government of Curacao. They own Nazca Tech Ltd, who are registered in East Sussex, England, and own a few other online casinos, all of which look as deeply unimpressive as this one. The site is available in English, Italian and German and, while there’s not much that can be said in its favour, it does sport a rather fetching blue and yellow lion logo. More lions surface on the About page, where it’s revealed that one of the site’s goals is to treat its customers fairly and with respect and to provide them with more comps points than other casinos.
The operators of Lion Slots reportedly have over 25 years experience of online gaming, though this figure has probably increased substantially since the time of writing. The site would appear to have been founded in 2002 after the team behind Lion Slots decided to pool their expertise. And that’s about all there is to learn abou Lion Slots, an old-fashioned site whose narrow-width design is reminiscent of watching a 90s television show, before everything switched from 4:3 to 16:9 ratio.
There are various ways to deposit funds into your Lion Slots account, though like all casinos in need of an update, some of these payment mechanisms no longer exist. Based on the information provided on the site’s Banking page however, you can take your pick from Quicktender/UseMyWallet, EcoPayz, Click2Pay, Neteller, Skrill or credit card. The minimum deposit amount is $25.
When it comes to making a withdrawal, credit card isn’t an option, though the other deposit methods are. Lion Slots states that withdrawals can take between 0 and 18 days before funds will appear in your account. This is a precisely imprecise figure, but is indicative of the fact that some methods will be markedly quicker than others. It seems safe to assume that Neteller and Skrill will be among the quickest withdrawal options. Before making your first withdrawal, you’ll be expected to provide a scan of your credit card along with photographic ID.
The $15 no deposit bonus that all new players are entitled to is a nice touch. That sum won’t go far admittedly, but it’s probably just enough to get a taste for the games that are available on the site. After that, it’s possible to claim up to $500 in bonus cash with your first three deposits. This starts with a 100% match with your first deposit worth up to $100. With your second there’s a 150% match when you deposit up to $275. Then with your third there’s a 200% match when you deposit up to $125.
Type | Amount | Match | Playthrough | Claim |
---|---|---|---|---|
First Deposit | $100 | 100% | 20x | Claim Bonus |
Second Deposit | $275 | 150% | 20x | Claim Bonus |
Third Deposit | $125 | 200% | 20x | Claim Bonus |
Lion Slots also provides alternative deposit bonuses. This means that any time you top up your account balance using one of the site’s favoured ewallets, you’ll receive a 25% bonus worth up to $1,000 on top. Other means of scooping a little something on the side include a $25 refer a friend bonus, plus a range of weekly and monthly promotions that are viewable when you access the cashier section of the software client. The site also runs a VIP programme that dispenses Lion Points, but there’s not much information available about how this works.
While Lion Slots favours a download model, it does enable its members to access an instant play section too. This provides a preview of at least some of the games that will be available via the software client, should you decide to take that step. If you’re holding out hopes for a site with slots in its name to be stocking the latest and greatest video slots, brace yourself for disappointment. The slots that are available have been divided according to whether they’re progressive, 3-reel, 5-reel or i-Slots, the latter being an archaic term used to refer to video slots. The progressive games comprise just four titles: Major Moolah, Strike Gold, One Million Reels BC and Money Magic.
There’s no information available regarding what the current value of each slot’s jackpot may be. As irresistible calls to action go, the “Play NOW!” command below each game takes some beating. The 3-reel slots include some extremely esoteric games including Heroes’ Realm, Crazy Camel Cash and Firestorm 7. The 5-reel slots don’t fare any better; there’s not a lot to set your pulse racing here, whether rolling the reels of Scary Rich 3 or Zombiezee Money. As for the i–Slots, which should theoretically contain the best of the best Lion Slots can muster, Reel Crime: Art Heist and Baby Boomers: Cash Cruise are the sort of fare you can expect.
While slots account for by far the bulk of the games to be found at Lion Slots, there are a few alternatives including video poker. Here, Deuces and Jokers, Aces and Faces and Jacks or Better, among others, will prove fit for purpose if unexciting. There’s a slightly better selection of table games that includes Roulette, Baccarat, Blackjack and Craps and a fair range of scratch cards and keno that offer an alternative to the drudgery of the slots.
Lion Slots is a dismal, dismal site. It’s a thoroughly depressing place that has nothing to recommend about it. It’s hard to tell whether any more than a handful of punters – if that – actually play here, but whatever the case it’s safe to assume that business hasn’t been brisk round these parts in a long time. If you’re happy enough to download the site’s software to your PC, Lion Slots should do the job that’s asked of it.
But on a web that’s hardly short of slick, exciting and action-packed casinos, why would you want to waste your time lingering in a place like Lion Slots?
